Sizing your heat pump pool heater
Basic rules
- Size at 4 BTU's per gallon or 1 BTU's per litre of water :
for normal summer conditions where daily average of ambiant air temperature maintains over 60° F at night and over 70° F in the day.
- Size at 5 to 6 BTU's per gallon or 1.3 to 1.5 BTU's per litre of water :
for spring and fall conditions where daily average of ambiant air temperature maintains over 55° F at night and over 65° F in the day.
- Size at 6 BTU's or more per gallon or 1.5 BTU's or more per litre of water :
for extended spring and fall conditions where daily average of ambiant air temperature maintains over 50° F at night and over 60° F in the day.
