Temperature controls

Electro-mechanical

The heat pump has been designed to operate fully automatically (Exception the Insta Manual model in North America).

  1. Once the unit is connected to the pool return line, and power is applied, turn on the pool filtration system pump, on.
  2. Turn the temperature control knob to position 8 (max. setting). The fan will now operate. After a delay of 3 to 5 minutes the compressor will begin to operate. Please note that it is often normal for the unit to function continuously during the beginning of a season.
  3. Once the desired water temperature has been achieved, slowly bring back the temperature control knob toward position 0 (min. setting).

  4. When your hear a slight click and the unit stops, this will be the correct setting for the desired water temperature.
  5. The integrated thermostat will maintain the pool water temperature to within ±3 °C (±4 °F).
  6. To increase water temperature, turn the temperature control knob towards the maximum setting, 8. To decrease water heating temperature turn the knob towards 0.

Several factors, such as; external temperature, humidity, solar intensity, wind, etc influence unit running time. Hence these cycles may vary daily within the same season.

Digital

To power on the unit, press the ON/OFF button to energize the digital temperature control panel. The thermostat will display the water temperature.

Digital control

To modify the desired water temperature, simultaneously press on the TEMP SET control arrows on the keypad for approximately 1 second, or until the temperature display flashes.

Use the arrows to raise (up arrow) or lower (down arrow) the temperature setting. Once the display no longer flashes the desired temperature is now set.

To change the temperature display mode, press on the °C/°F button.

It is possible for a temperature variation to occur between the probe and the pool thermostat measurement, due the quality of the pool thermostat .i.e., the value displayed is different from the temperature displayed on the pool thermometer. Example: if the water is at 26.6°C (80°F) and the heat pump displays 24.4°C (76°F).

To calibrate this variation, perform the following procedure:

  1. Read the pool water temperature (ex: 28.3°C (83°F)),
  2. Now read the temperature displayed on the heat pump thermostat (26°C (79°F)),
  3. To determine the differential substract the pool water temperature from the heat pump temperature, 28.3 (83) -26 (79) = 2°C (5°F). Therefore we must compensate for 2.3°C (5°F).

To calibrate the probe perform the following procedure:

  1. Enter the digital programming mode by simultaneously pressing on the up and down arrows,
  2. Once the temperature displayed is flashing press on the ON/OFF button,
  3. The display will now show the calibration value, which varies -±4°C (±9°F),
  4. Using the up and down arrows, enter the calibration value, 2.3°C (5°F). The degree function will flash for negative values and will not flash for positive values.
  5. Once the calibration has been entered wait until the new temperature appears.
